Well, what's it REALLY like?
Anyone trying to research a travel trip or holiday will skim through online articles, reviews and tourism sites. You'll find uncritical waffle from businesses about themselves, short sharp points about major attractions on so-called travel sites and an odd mix of ranting criticism and unbelievable praise on customer-generated sites like tripadvisor. No one site gives you the full picture of a holiday destination. No site gives you the real 'feel' of what a place is like. So in this section of my travel website I'm trying to do a very un-webbish thing and provide some longer, more colourful pieces about some holiday spots. It's the sort of thing that used to be pompously called 'travel writing' and is disappearing in the web world of saying everything in a few characters so someone can read it on their mobile phone while jumping on a bus. There's nothing special about these travel essays. Really they're just a long set of impressions about a place from a bloke who has been to a lot of other places. I hope just hope they're useful, I don't make any huge spelling mistakes and you enjoy reading them. Thanks...
